Known issue: ChanServ panel problems

Summary

An issue exists within the ChanServ panel which prevents operators from removing others' access.

Status

Known, workarounds possible

Description

When using the ChanServ's operator management panel (AOP, SOP, VOP, or UOP), it is not possible to remove an operator. ChanServ responds saying that the operator does not exist. The vendor has been notified; the ticket number is #46058.

Technical information

The panel parses plaintext responses from ChanServ. The applet's parser does not properly strip the bold control code from the nickname that service outputs. Thus, it attempts to remove a nickname with control codes (such a nickname is invalid). As a result, operators are unable to remove other operators via the ChanServ panel.

Possible solutions

  • Use the command /ACCESS #CHANNEL AOP DEL NICKNAME to add or remove operators; substitute AOP, SOP, VOP, or UOP for the level if needed.

Recommended action

Use the manual ChanServ commands discussed above.
