Service update liveHarmony to discontinue service as of August 1, 2011. See home page for details.

ChatWeb service

The ChatWeb service allows users who do not own web pages to easily start their own chat room as well and distribute easy-to-use links. Using the ChatWeb service is simple; no registration is required.

To access a chat room named myroom, use the following address in any web browser:

http://www.lhcw.net/myroom

Your browser will direct you to a simple chat page with the room already visible. All liveHarmony chat rooms are accessible by ChatWeb. Among them:

  • the Lobby, a G-rated general chat area
  • Support, a room for assistance with liveHarmony
  • the Loft, a G-rated general area for meeting our staff or users
  • TeenConnection, a chat area specifically for teenagers
You can visit http://channels.liveharmony.org to access a list of all public chat areas.

If you would like an even shorter address, you can leave off the "www" entirely:

http://lhcw.net/myroom

Update: We recently registered the name lhcw.net (mnemonic: liveHarmony ChatWeb) for the ChatWeb service. Previously, the system used chatweb.liveharmony.org. The old addresses will continue to work. We have also removed liveHarmony branding on ChatWeb pages.

Trivia: the name "chatweb" was never intended to stay; the author was experimenting with URI mapping and needed a temporary name for the development site.
